Can I pick the repair shop I want?

As the owner of a motor vehicle damaged in an accident, you have the right to choose the repair shop of your choice. This is the law!

How many estimates do I need?

You only need one. If you are comfortable with the shop that you received the estimate from, do not waste your time getting more. The law does not require that you get more than one.

What to do to expedite the repairs?

Who pays for the repair?

We will work with you and your insurance company to process the payments. You may be responsible for a deductible.

My insurance company tells me I have to go to their direct repair shop, is that true?

No, it is your choice on the shop you use, this is the law. When you choose us, we work for you not the insurance company. Our goal is to restore your car to pre-accident condition.

Are your technicians trained and certified?

Yes, all of our technicians are trained and certified by I-CAR, PPG and our vehicle manufacturers.

Can insurance companies in Ohio force me to use a specific body shop?

No, insurance companies cannot force you to use a specific body shop; this is illegal "steering." You have the right to choose any repair facility you prefer. While insurers can recommend "preferred" shops in their network that agree to lower costs (to the insurance company), you are not obligated to use them, and these savings do not translate to the customer.

What are my rights when choosing a body shop in Ohio?

• Right to Choose: You can select any qualified body shop for repairs, even if they aren't on the insurer's list, according to Ohio Administrative Code 109:4-3-13.
• No Forced Estimates: You are not required to get multiple estimates; you can go to the shop you trust.
• No Steering Tactics: Insurers are prohibited from intimidating, threatening, or misleading you into using a particular shop.
• Disclosure: If your insurer owns the repair shop, they must disclose that ownership to you.

What can insurance companies legally do when recommending shops?
