Prepare for Roadside Emergencies with These Items

A post shared by Volvo Cars (@volvocars) on

The worst thing about a vehicle breakdown is arguably the fact that they usually happen when you're the least prepared for them.

When you keep a roadside emergency kit in your car, however, you're always prepared.

Here is a list of some items we believe should be in your vehicle at all times in case of a roadside emergency:

  • Flare alternative: Things like reflective warning triangles or battery-powered beacons help oncoming traffic know to give you space.
  • Duct tape: A temporary fix for a shocking number of things. Use it to patch something up long enough to get it properly repaired.
  • Headlamp: Breaking down in the dark is easier to deal with when one hand isn't tied up by a flashlight.
  • Foam tire sealant: Definitely not a permanent fix if you run over a nail, but it will do in a pinch to get you to a point where you can perform a proper replacement or repair.
  • Energy bars: Nonperishable snacks will come in handy if you find yourself stranded for a long period of time.
